European Sisters chillin' out
and enjoying their geraniums!
"A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot, humid day,
drinking iced tea and talked with her Mother.
As they talked about life, about marriage, about the
responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood,
the Mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully
and turned a clear and sober glance upon her daughter.
'Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the
tea leaves to the bottom of her glass.
They'll be more important as you grow older.
No matter how much you love your husband,
no matter how much you love the children you have,
you are still going to need your sisters.
Remember to go places with them now
and then; do things with them.'
'Remember that sisters means all women...
your girlfriends, your daughters, your mother
and all your other women relatives too.
You'll need other women. Women always do.'
'What a funny piece of advice the young woman thought.
Haven't I just gotten married?
Haven't I just joined the couples' world?
I'm now a married woman for goodness sake!
A grown-up! Surely my husband and the family we
start will be all I need to make life worthwhile.'
But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with
her sisters and made more women friends each year.
As the years tumbled by, one after another,
she gradually came to understand that her Mom
really knew what she was talking about.
As time and nature work their changes and their
mysteries upon a woman~
Sisters are the mainstay of her life.
After more than 50 years of living in this world,
here is what I have learned for sure...

Time passes.
Life happens. Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Others sometimes mess up.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
People forget kindnesses.
Careers end.

But...Sisters are always there no matter
how far away or how many miles between you.
A sister is never farther away than needing her can reach.
Everyday we need each other still."
To all my sisters, know that I love you! B

How true, how true! I have really enjoyed my "sisters" I have worked with for years at school. I enjoy my "sisters" I have at church! I love them all as well as my new blogger "sisters!" Thanks to my sister-in-law, Nellie, I have gotten two new "sisters!" How wonderful the Love of our GOD to have love for all of our sisters! Just think it will last on into eternity!!
Love to you as well,
Susan
Having five biological sisters (who didn't always get along) and a few that have joined the family by way of marriage, I promise this is true. One blessing of my mom's passing is that we've all dropped the pettiness and have grown so much closer. I love that. I also love all my non-related sisters, especially those I left behind in CA. Even though I loved the friendships I had there, I didn't realize how much I'd miss everyone. Now I'm making new friends here and cherish each relationship so much more, knowing that sooner or later, one way or another, I will have to say good-bye to them also.
